My wife and I have a 4 year old daughter and has never seen the inside of an education indoctrination building. Nor will she ever. This movement has exploded over the last few years and our rural community is no exception.
Two years ago my wife and I started a small school/ learning pod on our property. We bought a large Amish shed which I insulated, finished and installed a wood stove. I purchased a small solar package and it is fully off grid. 80-90% of the learning is outdoor. Our kids learn how to garden, forage and animal husbandry along with the 3 R’s. My wife was an educator for the TDSB before we decided to bail from the city, she’s had seen exactly this was headed and we both knew in our hearts that there had to be a better way. Our students thrive and we’ve been blessed to have a close community of likeminded families grow up around us. We’re expanding in September and will be bringing on another educator who has seen the writing on the wall. Parents are seeing what is happening in the schools, and want none of it around their children. Thank God.
Exactly. We know a lot of parents who have never had their kids in the system at all. So those numbers are never accounted for.
Fun fact: there is no legal requirement (yet) to inform anyone of not having your child in the system. Even pulling your kid from it doesn’t require a formal admission. Although they do advise and prefer you do let the school know... but my stance: fuck ‘em. They like to keep secrets from parents? Two can play that game.

As a side note, they have no idea how many homeschooled kids there are. The numbers they use are minimums.

school system doesn't teach kids much at all if anything useful other than math & english
there is so much educational material online, plus having a skilled trade is so useful!!
