Find it interesting that the pundits in the US seem to feel this is a result of Trump gutting the FAA, unless the crash was because of poor maintenance inspection which I doubt; it has nothing to do with the FAA.
The crash was in Canada under Canadian aviation control. Given the weather in the area the most likely cause is the pilot was not able (was it an autopilot landing) to handle the weather conditions at the time
