CRTC data reveals CBC's audience slumped to 3.9% in 2021-2022, marking a 50% decline since 2013.
Canada's heavily taxpayer-funded public broadcaster has been milking billions of dollars from Canadians over the years, even as its viewership continues to plummet.
In an updated September 2023 report, released by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), it shows that the CBC accounted for only 3.9% of viewership in 2021-2022 across Canadian televisions, which is down 7.1% from the previous year and a significant 50% drop from 2013-2014 when the state broadcaster's viewership stood at 6.9%.
In the CBC's 2021-22 annual report, they reported receiving $1.24 billion in taxpayer funding, and in the preceding year, they reported an additional $1.39 billion in taxpayer funds, bringing the total to $2.63 billion in taxpayer funds over those two years to keep afloat. However, it's not just these two years; the CBC has been receiving taxpayer money for decades, though not to the extent we see today.
The CRTC’s data shows that networks owned and operated by Bell and Corus are dominating the Canadian viewership market, with the vast majority of Canadians avoiding the CBC. In 2021-2022, Bell and Corus accounted for 74.2% of the viewing share, with Rogers at 11.5%, and CBC at 7.4%.
When you assess the CBC's year-over-year performance over the last decade, it's clear that it's in decline in almost every aspect of its operations. Canadians should really question why they are being forced to continue funding this failing broadcaster.

Maybe the Conservatives can start Anti-Trust Sabre rattling at the Communications Cartel parent corporations that own the Legacy Media Assets that continually propagandize and censor for the Trudeau Government.
Maybe it shouldn’t just be the CBC’s fate that is on the block.
FANTASTIC!!! Maybe Canadians eyes are opening and mind’s understanding
