WATCH: NDP House Leader Peter Julian asks for House Speaker Anthony Rota to step down in the House of Commons this morning.

11

NDP House Leader Peter Julian's request for House Speaker Anthony Rota to step down follows an embarrassing moment in Canadian history that occurred last Friday, following Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's visit to Canada and his speech in the House of Commons. Afterward, House Speaker Anthony Rota addressed the room and pointed to a guest he had invited, who turned out to be a 98-year-old World War II veteran, Yaroslav Hunka. The 98-year-old man received a standing ovation from everyone in the room. However, shortly thereafter, it was discovered that Hunka had actually been a WWII Nazi veteran.
