New study finds natural immunity from Covid-19 infection provides strong and lasting protection.

The study showed that natural immunity from COVID infection provides strong and lasting protection against severe illness, hospitalization and death.

After 10 months protection against hospitalization and death remained at 89% for Omicron and 90% for other earlier variants.

The study was funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and published by The Lancet.

It analyzed 65 different studies from 19 different countries and found that “the level of protection from past infection by variant and over time is at least equivalent if not greater than that provided by two-dose mRNA vaccines.”
