German MEP Christine Anderson Takes Legal Action Against YouTube for Alleged Censorship of Parliamentary COVID-19 Committee Meetings
German MEP Christine Anderson has taken legal action against YouTube, alleging that the platform unlawfully blocked two of her videos related to her work in the COVID special committee. The decision to block the videos was reportedly based on YouTube's policy on "medical misinformation," although specific details about the misinformation in question were not provided.
The blocked videos in question were recordings of public meetings from the official "Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic," commonly referred to as the "COVI Committee," held at the EU Parliament.
As an elected representative of the European Parliament, Anderson and her fellow MEPs sought answers from representatives of AstraZeneca. They aimed to address concerns about the accuracy of information surrounding the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccinations, the mass administration of vaccines without comprehensive data, and the distribution of liability and guarantees between multinational pharmaceutical corporations and governments.
Expressing her discontent with the blocking of her videos, Anderson felt compelled to challenge YouTube's actions. Alongside the removal of the videos, YouTube also issued a warning, threatening to permanently suspend Anderson's MEP account if she violated their content policies again. Frustrated by what she perceived as an infringement on her freedom of speech, Anderson decided to pursue legal recourse against YouTube's perceived arbitrariness.
After several correspondences between Anderson's legal representatives and YouTube, the platform ultimately reinstated the videos without any additional comments or explanations. However, YouTube has yet to address Anderson's requests for a clear definition of "medical misinformation" and further elaboration on the reasons behind the initial blockings.
In light of these circumstances, Anderson has filed an injunction and declaratory judgment against YouTube with the relevant district court in her hometown of Fulda. Her primary objectives are to prevent future incidents of content blocking and to establish the legality of YouTube's previous actions.
Fantastic to hear Christine is pursuing this. The Governments along with YouTube are being run by Dictatorships. Against Science and Freedom of Speech. Love Christine!
