Dr. Deena Hinshaw was, in fact, recently hired by Alberta Health Services, but the job offer was revoked before her start date
Back on June 2, 2023, a leaked internal memo revealed that the Indigenous Wellness Core, a program within Alberta Health Services (AHS), had announced the hiring of Dr. Deena Hinshaw.
It seemed rather strange that Hinshaw would be hired by AHS, considering she had been fired as Alberta's chief medical health officer back in November 2022.
The following day, on June 3, 2023, AHS issued a statement claiming that Hinshaw was “not employed at AHS.”
Multiple media outlets, including The Counter Signal, put out stories claiming the memo was fake. The Counter Signal claimed that Alberta Premier Danielle Smith's Office confirmed the memo was "fabricated." However, as it turns out, we now know the memo was, in fact, real.
The Counter Signal has since removed that article.
According to former AHS employee Dr. Esther Tailfeathers and multiple sources within AHS who spoke with CBC, someone higher up in the organization revoked Hinshaw's employment at AHS before her start date on June 5, 2023.
Tailfeathers also confirmed the authenticity of the leaked memo to CBC and stated that she resigned over the decision to revoke Dr. Deena Hinshaw's employment.
It remains unknown who the higher-up is, why her employment was revoked, or on what day they reneged on their employment offer to Hinshaw.
Screenshots of the internal AHS employee database provided to The Canadian Independent further support the fact that Dr. Deena Hinshaw was recently hired. The screenshots show that Dr. Deena Hinshaw was listed in the AHS internal employee database on both June 2 and June 3, 2023.
What's 'Indigenous health'? Are we going to have 'Caucasian health' and 'black health' too?
What is she doing in B.C. ?
