Canadian healthcare wait times in 2023 have reached record-breaking levels, showing a 198% increase since 1993
Canadians are experiencing unprecedented wait times for healthcare services in 2023, as indicated by a new report from the Fraser Institute. The survey, spanning three decades and involving physicians from 12 specialties across ten provinces, collected data from 1,269 respondents from January to June 2023.
The report found a median wait time of 27.7 weeks from referral to treatment, surpassing the 27.4 weeks reported in 2022. This marks the lengthiest wait time in the survey's history, standing at 198% longer than the 9.3-week wait documented in 1993.
Even though provinces are investing billions of dollars in the healthcare sector, the report highlights a concerning trend. The findings state, "This year's survey indicates that, despite provincial strategies to reduce wait times and high levels of health expenditure, it is clear that patients in Canada continue to wait too long to receive medically necessary treatment."

And still BC will not allowed unvaccinated healthcare workers to return to their jobs and the policy continues to injure and cause harm to those that continue to be forced into taking them and drive healthcare workers out of the province. Not to mention all those uncounted that retired early to not have to take the shots. Our NDP govt does not care about our healthcare.
As I told a Doctor recently, healthcare in Canada is great as long as you're healthy and don't require them for much.
