Canada has already paid almost $2.8 million for Covid-19 vaccine injuries and more are waiting
Canada’s first ever vaccine injury support program, which was created only after the launch of the Covid-19 vaccines, shows it has paid out almost $2.8 million to 50 Canadians for an injury. There are another 1,067 claims deemed admissible that are awaiting medical review.
Some Canadians have been left with life altering injuries, like a BC man, Ross Wightman, who suffered Guillain-Barre Syndrome after one dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. Wightman was one of the first in Canada to receive compensation.
In an interview with CBC, Wightman said the maximum amount allowed for someone injured by a vaccine in Canada is $248,000. He said he received somewhere in the middle of that amount. Canadians who are injured and approved for compensation also qualify for income replacement.
That income replacement can be up to $90,000 a year. Wightman was a pilot and real estate agent. The Covid-19 vaccine injury reports are among the highest out of any other vaccine in Canadian history.
Canada to date has received over 50,000 adverse event reports, with 10,519 of them being serious.
