Alberta Law Firm Files Class Action Lawsuit Against Province and Federal Government Over Covid-19 Vaccine Practices
Rath & Company, a law firm in Alberta, has initiated a Class Action lawsuit alleging claims of "unlawful, negligent, inadequate, improper, unfair, and deceptive practices" against both the province of Alberta and the federal government. The allegations are tied to the "warning, marketing, promotion, and distribution of the Covid vaccines.”
In the lawsuit, Carrie Sakamoto, a young mother from Lethbridge, Alberta, is the plaintiff and proposed representative. The suit alleges that Sakamoto "had no prior health conditions before being inoculated by the Covid vaccines" and claims that, after the Covid vaccine inoculation, she "almost died."
The suit goes on to say that the plaintiff was "hospitalized for 17 days following experiencing stroke-like symptoms, ultimately losing her ability to walk, chew, talk, and concentrate. The plaintiff received no, or inadequate, warning from the defendants about the severe injury and risks associated with the Covid vaccines and was the subject of coercion and undue influence by the defendants to take the Covid vaccines absent her full and informed consent."
Sakamoto has reportedly faced a multitude of health challenges following Covid-19 vaccination, as detailed in the lawsuit. These include conditions such as Bell’s Palsy, anxiety, depression, memory and vision impairment, hearing loss, cognitive decline, synkinesis, sleep disturbances, speech impediment, facial disfigurement, paralysis, tinnitus, and vertigo.
On April 21, 2021, Sakamoto received the AstraZeneca vaccine, followed by a Pfizer jab on June 18, 2021, according to the dates provided in the lawsuit documents. Following the administration of the Pfizer vaccine, she allegedly endured intense flu-like symptoms, including nausea, dizziness, and fever. These symptoms reportedly persisted and intensified over the course of the following week.
On July 1, 2021, Sakamoto's husband brought her to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta, due to the worsening nature of her symptoms. As per court documents, Sakamoto reportedly exhibited drooping on the right side of her face, accompanied by symptoms resembling a stroke. Despite this, she was discharged from the hospital on the same day.
Following her discharge, Sakamoto's symptoms allegedly worsened, leading to her readmission to the hospital the following day on July 2, 2021. During this hospitalization, she was reportedly admitted and, due to difficulties in chewing and swallowing, required the use of a feeding tube for nutritional support.
According to the lawsuit, on July 9, 2021, doctors conveyed to Sakamoto that her injuries were attributed to the Pfizer vaccine administered on June 18, 2021. The lawsuit outlines that she experienced paralysis on the right side of her throat, necessitating a relearning process for swallowing. Additionally, paralysis extended to the right side of her face and tongue, greatly impeding chewing and swallowing and resulting in slurred speech. Furthermore, her right eye reportedly remained paralyzed open, requiring it to be covered and taped shut for medical purposes.
On November 1, 2021, Sakamoto and her family made the difficult decision to put their home and farm up for sale. This move, noted in the lawsuit, was related to Sakamoto's challenges in performing household tasks, stemming from persistent fatigue, lack of concentration, and the need for multiple medications, as well as the constant need for continuous medical treatment.
Sakamoto's vaccine injury claim was accepted by the Canadian Vaccine Injury Support Program, recognizing that her injury was associated with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. According to court documents, she was granted a "modest" monetary amount for the injuries she sustained, specifically related to hearing, mimic (facial paralysis), and the aesthetic aspects of her face.
The lawsuit alleges that the defendants hastily implemented alterations to the safety standards of the vaccines, essentially eliminating the necessity to substantiate their safety or effectiveness. Despite these changes, the vaccines were reportedly marketed as meeting such standards. Additionally, the legal claim asserts that citizens were allegedly coerced into vaccination through the enforcement of a vaccine passport, restricting the rights of those who were hesitant to receive the vaccine.
Concerning distribution, the lawsuit alleges that Health Canada negligently approved the Covid vaccines through an expedited process. This process permitted manufacturers to seek authorization for the sale and distribution of Covid vaccines without completing all long-term safety studies or committing to reviewing new evidence as it emerged. Additionally, it is alleged that this expedited process failed to demonstrate the 'safety and effectiveness' of the Covid vaccines for the general population.
