A Huge Victory for New York Healthcare Workers After Supreme Court Rejects State's Appeal Over COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate Ruling
The New York State Supreme Court's January 2023 ruling, which invalidated the state's COVID-19 vaccine mandate for healthcare workers, will remain in effect. The state's appeal was dismissed by the Supreme Court Appellate Division.
In October 2022, a lawsuit was filed against the New York State Department of Health, Governor Kathleen C. Hochul, and Health Commissioner Mary T. Bassett by Medical Professionals for Informed Consent, a group of medical practitioners.
The New York State Supreme Court issued a ruling on January 13, 2023, declaring New York's COVID-19 vaccine mandate for healthcare workers "null, void, and of no effect."
On January 24, 2023, New York State appealed the Supreme Court's ruling, but the appeal was ultimately rejected by the appellate court.
